TL;DR

Breadcrumbs is a macOS app for archival research that tracks files and embeds the source URL and (optionally) page content directly into the file’s metadata. It also supports scanning webpages for embedded media, batch file renaming, metadata-driven search, and some additional AI features.

How It Works

Install

Unzip, move to your Applications folder, and right-click Open. It will appear in your menu bar.
